Understanding the Coeur d’Alene CDA Health Insurance Marketplace
Since 2014, individuals not covered through an employer, Medicaid, or Medicare have used state and federal marketplaces to shop for plans. Idaho’s exchange, Your Health Idaho, lets you compare prices, shop for qualified health plans (QHPs), and apply for financial assistance like subsidies and tax credits.
What is an Advanced Premium Tax Credit (APTC)?
An Advanced Premium Tax Credit (APTC) is a subsidy provided through the Affordable Care Act (ACA) to help reduce the monthly cost of health insurance premiums for eligible individuals and families. This subsidy is based on your household size and your estimated annual income.
For example, in 2026, a household of 4 people with an income below $128,600 may qualify for an APTC of several hundred dollars per month, depending on factors like age and ZIP code. This credit is applied monthly to lower your health insurance premium, but it is reconciled when you file your taxes. If you incorrectly estimated your income, you could either receive a refund or you could owe when you file your taxes.
To receive an APTC, you must enroll in a health plan through Idaho’s official health insurance exchange: Your Health Idaho, and don’t forget to select us as your agent.

- No lifetime or unreasonable annual limits on benefits.

What If You Don’t Qualify?
